Yeah, sure you can run Parallels or do something similar to get Windows on the Mac and access your CNC software that way, but that’s not what they’re looking for. As far as I know, this makes MeshCAM the first commercially-available CAM software for Mac/OS X. Mac CNC software is something that users have been requesting in greater numbers for the past couple of years. Short of a few CAD programs, is about the only CNC-related software that runs natively on the Mac. (Good work Bob!) Porting and supporting most CAM software from Windows to Mac would be an unprofitable endeavor.

It’s only because MeshCAM was based on a cross-platform user interface library ( ) 10 years ago that porting it to Mac was even a consideration. Without that decision a long time ago, this port would not be possible without a significant rewrite.

(Side note from Bob W.–same for G-Wizard software. We chose Adobe AIR because it lets us run on PC, Mac, and eventually iOS + Android mobile devices.) The first beta was released to about a hundred users two weeks ago. So far, all bugs reported from those users have been fixed and it’s ready for a wider audience.
